Bereavement guide
At some point in our lives we will all experience the loss of someone we were close to. The grief can be one of the most devastating things any of us will ever go through. For many, it can be difficult to know how to respond when a colleague is bereaved.
The bereavement guide will support us all to:
- Understand more about bereavement and how grief may impact us or our colleagues
- Support our colleagues at times of need
- Provide reassurance regarding the support mechanisms available at work and provide signposting to external support agencies
- Have supportive conversations with bereaved colleagues
- Remember we are all different, therefore it is important that we show compassion and understanding to support colleagues who may be experiencing a loss
- Nurture a compassionate, flexible and person centred approach to supporting each other in times of need
For each person this is an extremely personal experience as grief can impact us all in different ways. There is no right or wrong way to grieve for a loved one.
