Leavers and exit process
Thinking of leaving your role?
At UHB, we’re committed to creating a great place to work and supporting staff to stay and grow. But we also understand that sometimes people move on, whether to a new role within UHB, to a bank-only position, or leaving the Trust entirely.
To help make your transition as smooth and stress-free as possible, we’ve put a simple process in place.
Leaving your role – what you need to know
If you're preparing to leave your current role at UHB, whether you're moving to a new position within the Trust, moving to a UHB+ (bank) only position or leaving UHB altogether, there’s a simple form you'll be asked to complete. This form lets your manager know about your decision and gives you a chance to share your experiences. This form replaces the need to submit a resignation letter, so no additional documentation is required.
Every role at UHB plays an important part in delivering excellent patient care, and your contribution has been valued. This form isn’t just about saying goodbye, it’s also about helping us learn and improve.
What you need to do
If you're leaving your current role, please fill out the leaving your role form to let your manager know.
This form is used for:
- moving to a new role within UHB
- moving to a UHB+ (bank-only) contract
- leaving UHB completely
Once you’ve submitted the form, the leavers process will begin based on the option you’ve selected.
If you have any questions or need support, your line manager is there to help. Alternatively, you can contact HR via email.
Why your feedback matters
The information you share helps us:
- understand why people choose to leave their roles
- spot opportunities to improve the experience for current and future staff
- celebrate what’s working well across teams
- reduce staff turnover and make UHB a better place to work
Your responses are reviewed by the People Directorate, who look for patterns and trends. These insights are shared with managers and leaders across the Trust to help guide improvements and recognise great practice.
If you raise a serious concern
If your feedback includes concerns about things like discrimination, harassment, safeguarding, or anything that could cause harm to yourself, others, or patients, it will be escalated appropriately. In some cases, your name may be shared with senior managers so the right action can be taken. This is part of our duty of care to ensure a safe and respectful workplace.
Your role in the process
As someone leaving a role, you’re helping shape the future of UHB. By being honest and constructive in your feedback, you’re helping us learn, grow, and improve the experience for others.
Thank you for everything you’ve contributed during your time in your role. We truly appreciate it.
