Mandatory training and core role specific training needs analysis

Mandatory: training required by all permanent employees and included in all compliance reports (internal and external) provided centrally by Education, also used to determine incremental pay progression.

Core role specific: required only by specified staff groups, not reported as part of mandatory training KPI’s and not used for incremental pay progression. Managed and reported by Subject Matter Experts but training records to be maintained on approved Learner Management System.

All are based on the National Core Skills Training Framework.

Manual Handling (patient)	Two yearly	For Patient facing clinical staff who move and handle patients as part of their duties. Clinical Resuscitation Level 1	Annual	Porters
Level 2	Annual	Clinical staff with direct clinical care responsibilities including qualified healthcare professionals require Level 2 resuscitation training as a minimum i.e. all doctors, nurses, midwives and allied health professionals
Level 3	Annual	Clinical staff including registered healthcare professionals with a responsibility to participate as part of the adult, paediatric or neonatal resuscitation team, working in acute areas such as ED, CCU, acute medicine, cardio physiology, interventional radiology and administering sedation in the care of dental or paediatric patients
Level 4	Four yearly with an annual update	Clinical staff including registered healthcare professionals with a responsibility to lead or be part of the trauma, adult, paediatric or neonatal resuscitation team, should undertake Advanced Life Support level training in the appropriate speciality group
Infection Prevention & Control, level 2	Annually	All healthcare staff groups involved in direct patient care or services
Safeguarding Adults and Children MCA and DOL’s, Level 3	Three yearly	All healthcare staff who undertake assessment, care, treatment, procedures, Non-clinical and clinical staff who have some degree of contact with children and young people and/or parents/carers
