Good Hope has launched a Mealtimes Matter campaign focusing on patients’ nutrition and hydration. A3 posters outlining a standardised approach to mealtimes can now be found in all ward kitchen areas, and are available to download at the bottom of this page. This offers colleagues updated guidance on:
- working as a team to get ready for mealtimes
- key actions to take during mealtimes
- the importance of reviewing and recording information about a patients meal
Patients and visitors can now also view a mealtime schedule on display at each ward entrance. This offers a clear outline of what meals/drinks rounds patients can expect and at what time of day.
Stephanie Lynch, Matron for Healthcare for Older People and Project Lead, said: "Eating well during a hospital stay plays a key role in reducing complications, speeding up recovery and improving outcomes for patients. Our aim is to deliver the highest standards of nutrition and hydration at all times and we hope colleagues, patients and visitors will find the new framework useful.”
