To help support your theory, knowledge and clinical practice you may be expected to complete the following clinical procedural skills courses during simulation when attending clinical skills training.
- Venepuncture
- Cannulation
- Intramuscular/subcutaneous injections
- Intravenous therapy
- Theatre etiquette and scrubbing up
- Blood glucose measuring
- Venepuncture
- 12-lead ECG and cardiac monitoring
- Swabs
- Urinalysis
- Blood transfusion
- Nasogastric tube insertion
- Oxygen and nebuliser therapy
- Wound care
- Male and female catheterisation
All of your training will be timetabled by the undergraduate coordinators.
Please arrive promptly to any session and wear suitable clinical attire.
Once you have completed your simulation course, you will be required to demonstrate the continual use of these skills under direct supervision in clinical practice, which must be documented.
