How the programme works

The Student Nursing Associate role will appeal to those with personal ambition to embrace the position and commitment to providing excellent patient care.

We will support you in your personal development, your academic journey and in developing your skills in clinical areas.

You will be required to work full time (37.5 hours per week) to fulfil the requirements of the training programme.

If you are already working as a Healthcare Assistant, as a Student Nursing Associate you will be seconded from your current clinical area onto the programme. You will be paid at your current band level.

You will be released from your clinical area to attend:

  • Birmingham City University or University College Birmingham, one day per week
  • a day in clinical placement across a range of clinical areas, both inside and outside the Trust

Successful completion of the programme will lead to a Foundation Degree Qualification and a position of Band 4 Nursing Associate.
