Review and consider the request
After receiving the email notification of a flexible working request, managers should take time to review and consider the details of the request. Guidance on what to consider is outlined in step 3:
Agree to the request
If a flexible working request can be agreed following a review then a meeting may not be required. In this instance, please refer to step 4 of the process and respond to the request:
Meet to discuss the request further
If required, a meeting should be arranged to discuss the flexible working request in more detail if further consideration or a trial is required following the review of the request.
The meeting must be arranged within 14 calendar days from the date on the request. Arranging the meeting as early as possible is advised as the outcome is needed within those 14 calendar days. Guidance on how to hold the meeting and what should be discussed is outlined in step 2:
Staff members have the right to be accompanied at the meeting by a trade union representative (if a member) or a UHB colleague.
