Looking after yourself and your colleagues
There are a range of support services that you can access, both inside and outside of the Trust:
These are available to all colleagues; are confidential and do not require authorisation from line managers. Some of the services are detailed below:
Chaplaincy
The Chaplaincy Team provide spiritual, religious and pastoral support to staff and patients for people with and without faith. Often when news first breaks of a colleague’s death there can be an immediate need for support for colleagues and Chaplains can be contacted via switchboards 24/7 in such circumstances.
Chaplaincy can also help with establishing sacred spaces within departments or wards, as well as the faith centres, for staff to take time out and support each other and for remembering and/or praying for their deceased colleagues.
As well as providing support in the immediate aftermath of a colleague’s death, the Chaplaincy Team can also help with arranging memorial services, which can happen at a later date, often after the funeral has taken place.
