All of the postgraduate simulation training is scheduled via easylearning. Sessions are available on multiple days and sites to help make booking as easy as possible. You can book training on any of the hospital sites. It does not need to be on the site where you work.
Before starting any high-fidelity simulation sessions, candidates must complete either a face-to-face module on human factors or complete an online course on Moodle.
Foundation Year 1
Foundation Year 1 Doctors are expected to complete one and a half days of High-Fidelity Simulation. This includes a full day of six scenarios which have been developed in-line with the UK Foundation Programme Curriculum.
They are designed to improve your awareness of a human factors approach to patient safety, as well as challenge your clinical skills. This session will provide a basis for your future postgraduate sessions and follows on from the Undergraduate Year 5 AIM simulation scenarios.
Programme for full-day Foundation Years 1 and 2 Simulation and Human Factors Training
The capacity for each course is ten doctors and up to four nursing staff.
All candidates must have completed the pre-course work around human factors.

Foundation Year 2
Foundation Year 2 Doctors are also expected to complete one and a half days of High-Fidelity Simulation, which includes a full day of six scenarios which have been developed in line with the UK Foundation Programme Curriculum. These scenarios are designed to build on those that were completed during foundation year 1 but concentrate more on human factors and interactions.

Progressive Simulation
All Foundation Doctors are expected to complete this half-day session once during Foundation Year 1 and once during Foundation Year 2.
These scenarios are designed with the UK Foundation Programme Curriculum in mind, where Foundation Years 1 and 2 Doctors will work together as a team during a scenario that is based on real clinical incidents that led to change in both local and national policies and procedures.
The capacity for each course is three FY1 doctors, three FY2 doctors, and Registered General Nurses/Nursing Associates.

Internal Medical Trainees, Year 1
Year 1 internal medical trainees are expected to complete a half-day of high-fidelity simulation. This includes three scenarios that are designed in line with the current curriculum to prepare trainees for the role of registrar.
The challenging scenarios follow a patient’s journey through the hospital, and are designed to enable trainees to practice both their technical and non-technical skills.

Internal medical trainees, year 2
Year 2 internal medical trainees are expected to complete a full day of high-fidelity simulation. This includes five scenarios that are designed in line with the current curriculum to prepare trainees for the role of registrar and build on the scenarios they completed during year 1.
The challenging scenarios are designed for the year 2 trainees to practice a wide range of technical skills, as well as demonstrate a more enhanced understanding of human factors and the effects they can have.
All candidates must have completed the pre-course work around human factors.
