GPVTS (General Practice Vocational Training Scheme)

Placed across all UHB hospital sites, Good Hope, Heartlands, Solihull and Queen Elizabeth, GPVTS trainees are doctors who are undergoing specialised training to become General Practitioners (GPs) in the UK. The training typically spans three years and is divided into different stages:

  1. ST1 (Specialty Training Year 1): Trainees spend time in hospital rotations to gain experience in various medical specialties.
  2. ST2 (Specialty Training Year 2): This year often includes a mix of hospital and community-based training.
  3. ST3 (Specialty Training Year 3): The final year is usually spent in a GP practice, where trainees refine their skills in a primary care setting
